The process for this concert poster dedicated to the Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalia was complicated and lengthy as I worked with materials not previously known to me, such as wire and plastic flowers in a circular metal hoop. I wanted to create an ethereal, floral, and mystical feeling with the imagery as her music aesthetic is a blend of many Spanish influences and religious undertones. Various wires wrap around the metal hoop to create a gold lattice that holds the bedazzled flowers and spells out the artist’s name at the center. The light speckled pattern over the black background was created with a knitted cloth over a lamp and emphasizes the ethereal quality to her aesthetic and music. The three versions of this poster capture the feelings of love, heartbreak, and death present in Rosalia’s music, while clearly stating the main intentions: her and her music, and the presence of a concert.
